An opportunity for professional learning staff supporting primary ākonga

In May 2019, three BLENNZ Wellington Resource Teachers Vision, brought together a group of teacher aides working with our academic primary braille learners – an opportunity for sharing, support and professional development for a group of teacher aides who hadn’t met prior to this workshop. The workshop provided an excellent opportunity for much discussion, sharing and upskilling as well as relationship-building between RTVs and teacher aides and our intention is to facilitate regular professional development days for this group.

In the future, we intend to focus on other areas of the Expanded Core Curriculum and to invite our other partners in the field including colleagues from the Blind Low Vision NZ.

We are delighted that two of these teacher aides are currently working towards the Trans-Tasman Certificate of Proficiency in Unified English Braille.
