Our network

BLENNZ Community

Our BLENNZ community, centred around ākonga and their families and whānau, is a wide and diverse group of people spread all across Aotearoa New Zealand and beyond. As this space develops further you will be able to find information specific to certain groups.

Educators and Specialists

BLENNZ Resource Teachers: Vision and Developmental Orientation and Mobility Instructors work closely with classroom teachers and specialists in educational settings around New Zealand to support children from birth to 21 years of age. We ensure that families and teaching teams remain up to date with accurate, information which supports educational planning and school placement.

Learners

This is a space that will be specially crafted for learners. We encourage BLENNZ ākonga to share their stories with each other and the wider national and international communities! This is where you will find information relevant to who you are and where you can share your own stories, tips and ideas with your peers.

Parents, family and whanāu

Through the year, many families and whānau participate in both National Immersion Courses and also in events facilitated by their local regional centre or the Homai Campus school or Homai Early childhood centre. We also really value the contribution made to the governance of BLENNZ by participation in the BLENNZ Board of Trustees.

Medical Practitioners

Medical practitioners can find a variety of information that will assist in supporting ākonga who are blind, deafblind or have low vision. If you have anything that you would like to share with our community, please let us know.

Partner Agencies

The team at BLENNZ work closely with a number of partner agencies to support ākonga who are blind, deafblind or have low vision. If you have anything that you would like to share with our community, please let us know.
