Each student has an Individual Educational Plan (IEP) that links the New Zealand National Curriculum and the Expanded Core Curriculum. The IEP is formulated in consultation with parents/whānau/caregivers and professionals and is reviewed six monthly. Teachers, teacher aides, a range of specialists and therapists work as a team, along with the family/whanau to implement a programme designed to meet each student’s individual education needs.

At each level of the school, students participate in group and individual activities that may include the following:

  • Learning Experiences Outside the Classroom (EOTC)
  • The Expanded Core Curriculum
  • Physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech language therapy (as needed)
  • Specialised sensory, dietary and physical programmes
  • Riding for the Disabled
  • Recreation activities

Specialists including Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Speech-Language Therapist, Music Therapist, Braille Music Specialist, Orientation & Mobility Instructor, and a range of other specialists all work closely with teachers to support learners’ Individual Education Plans.
