Covid lockdown at Auckland South

November 25, 2021

2021 was a dynamic year, starting with three weeks of lockdown in term 1. Then Auckland went into a second lockdown in the middle of August, totaling 20 weeks of working remotely with learners. The focus evolved into “Wellbeing” – of learners, whanau and RTVs. RTVs engaged in online PD sessions, focusing on engaging with various technologies in order to support learners effectively. The team connected with Disability & Inclusion Department of Education, Queensland, completing two sessions of PD around iPad and Microsoft accessibility. When the opportunity arose, we led a low vision workshop for teachers & teacher aides, engaged in an “eye dissection” session with Samantha Simpkin and joined two PD sessions led by John Beale, a Christchurch optometrist.
