Charlotte‘s has light perception and uses a range of sensory strategies and her excellent spatial memory to learn about her environment.
She requires ample time to process verbal information and to explore objects, activities and spaces, so that she is able to appreciate their properties and return to them as her ‘tools’, or for pleasure.
During her February National Assessment she explored a hairbrush, examining the bristles, tapping it on the side of the table, and finally brushing her hair.
Charlotte had her best successes when in a distraction-free setting with clearly defined work areas such as trays with raised edges, and a Finish box for used objects to be reviewed at a later time.
