St. Anne’s Book Boxes

Thanks to a generous grant from The St Anne’s Trust for the Sight Impaired North Shore, we have been able to purchase some wonderful books and resources. These will be used with our learners to support literacy development and we are currently creating accessible library boxes/kits.

Our aim is for our learners to develop a love of books and to make story time fun. The kits will include:

  • a picture book with clear braille overlay;
  • tactile toys or objects that the learner can explore to help them understand the story;
  • a tactile book which tells the story; and where possible,
  • an audio recording of the book for the learner to listen to.

These resources bring the books to life and completely engage our BLENNZ learners in literacy.
