Here are some examples as to how the word of the week can be used everyday.
The examples used here are based on listening to and using Te Reo Māori with people predominantly from Ngāti Kahungunu ki te Wairoa and Tūhoe.
Te wiki tuarua (week 2/28 July) – heihei/chicken
Titiro ki tēna heihei – Look at that chicken.
Kei whea te mīti heihei – Where is the chicken meat?
Kei roto I te umu te mīti heihei – The chicken meat is in the oven.
He tino reka te mīti heihei – Chicken meat is very delicious.
Titiro ki tērā tame heihei – Look at that rooster over there.
Haere mai mō te kai mīti heihei kei muri a poitarawhiti – Come for a feed of chicken after netball.
