Since January 2023, Te Tairāwhiti has experienced numerous states of emergency, declared nationally and locally, as a result of cyclones and flooding. The most recent, at the time of writing, was declared on 22 June. For many communities in the rohe, this has been ongoing since 2021.
A gradual but consistent return to routine has been a testament of strength and spirit. For the past two terms of this school year, BLENNZ Tūranganui-a-Kiwa Gisborne has spent many hours reconnecting with tamariki, rangatahi, parents and whānau and school/kura communities. The well-being and pastoral care considerations for the young people and families who the centre serves have been foremost in thought and action.
Mā whero, mā pango ka oti a te mahi.
