This year, our Residential ākonga have engaged in Box Fit sessions facilitated by local trainers Lesley and Willie Maipi from Ponoboxfit.

Willie, a health coach in the community, and Lesley have demonstrated a strong commitment to promoting movement and sport, collaborating with Blind Sport to develop an adapted program for our ākonga.

Ākonga were involved in the initial planning with a Youth Worker, providing insights to Ponoboxfit to help them meet our needs.

Initially ākonga responses were mixed, with some expressing excitement while others were hesitant.

Enthusiasm for the programme increased throughout the year with individual ākonga adding box fit to their personal programmes and the Immersion team adding Boxfit to both the Adapted Sport Immersions, with great success.
