Kia ora tātou, my name is Nic Daniel my role is Immersion Lead. Immersion is a national service that supports ākonga who are blind, low vision, or deafblind to access learning opportunities that may not be available in their local region.
We provide pathways for ākonga aged 5–21 to take part in both on-campus and online courses that combine purposeful daytime learning with rich, real-life experiences.
Our programmes are grounded in the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC), supporting the development of essential skills such as independence, communication, social interaction, and self-determination. Through this work, we design and deliver learning experiences that build skills, confidence, and independence, enabling ākonga to reach their full potential and successfully transfer their learning into their home, school, and wider community environments.
